Receiver's register of receipts, November 6, 1823-June 5, 1874.

Chronological list is of receipts issued by Receiver for land sale payments received. Entries include date and number of receipt, name and resdience of purchaser, legal description of tract purchased, number of acres, price per acre, amount received in military land scrip or forfeited land stock and total amount of urchase price. After September 1855 when Springfield Office began selling lands formerly under jurisdiction of closed land offices in Illinois former district is client for each tract.

The Springfield Land District Office was created by act of Congress of May 8, 1822. All land in Edwardsville District lying north of line separating townships thirteen and fourteen north of baseline for third rincipal meridian was assigned to new district.
